Xhosa Online Learning Options

Overview

UBuntu Bridge knows the world is busy, increasingly global and people are mobile.  If you don't live near classes, or no class times suit you, or if you want Xhosa lessons with you wherever you go, these will help.

Please read further to understand more on these fantastic UBuntu Bridge teaching methods.

Online Learning Environment

Our exciting online learning environment includes our course material as well as audio and video files to assist your learning. Specially designed for those who cant attend regular classes, but great as revision and support for those who can.

Description: Read more online, but basically the whole text, audio and video content of my first lesson as taught in my courses, with pronounciations, the clicks, greetings, good-byes as well as cultural tips to help you in everyday interaction. Learn online!

To enter: I have set it up so that guests may enter the site provided they have an enrolment key or password which is "ubuntu".
Click on the above weblink and go to the home page. To get into the course you will need to click on the LearnXhosa Level 1 link in the centre of the page. This will take you to a page where you should enter the enrolment key (ubuntu) and click on "enrol me in this course". From then on you will be able to access the site freely.

NOTE: Do not click Login as you wont be able to access the site. Rather enter the enrolment key (ubuntu) and click on "enrol me in this course".

Phrase A Day

See the Green "Click" Circle button to the right up near the top of the page.  It will take you to our previous downloadable MP3 lessons online.  Subscribe via our usual mailing list and you will receive a "Phrase of the Day" audio file once a week or so, with English and Xhosa translations, grammar explanations and a downloadable audio Mp3, which will help you with pronunication, and with luck, give you a laugh.

This is a forum where you can ask any question that you would like answered relating to the Xhosa language. You may want something translated or grammatical explanations.

Lusapho is the Xhosa word for family, because we turn to our family when we need help. It is also Harrison (Our star teacher) Makubalos Xhosa name and he will likely be the most regular person assisting with your questions. However, all members are welcome to post answers and responses.

SKYPE lessons

After working through the above options, if you still need some live tutoring or you want someone to practice speaking with, you have the option of skype lessons.  Skype lessons one on one with a teacher, or you can have a group present and split the cost.

We teach in 30 - 60 minute lessons to individuals or groups. 

Special rates if you pay for a number of lessons upfront.
